Why are they doing away with smartmedia cards and what is the most popular card now?

I dont want to buy a product that uses soon to be obsolete media.. Thanks

1. SmartMedia has been made obsolete due to it's limited maximum storage size (128MB), and it's large physical size. Secure Digital is now the most common memory card format with sizes up to 32GB (and a theoretical maximum of 128GB). They are also availiable in micro and mini size formats for smaller devices such as mobile phones.
