How do I fix a corrupted SmartMedia card? I have an old Olympus C-4040 digital camera that uses SM cards. Great camera but the SM cards get corrupted at the drop of a hat, especially when put into a card reader other than the camera. If I attempt to even view files on an SM card using a card reader, the card will become useless with the camera. I keep getting an error message with the camera telling me to format the card, which it tries but CANT do. Formatting the cards from a computer doesnt work either. I've seen websites offering to fix SM cards for a fee but I'm not desperate enough to try. Is there any way to fix the cards myself? Would a local digital photography shop be able to do it for me? SmarMedia isn't made(or at least not sold) in north america anymore. I'm sure stuff like this is the reason why. I'm not the first person to complain about bad SM cards. It seems to be a fairly common problem with the type. Perhaps toshiba didn't think that people would use card readers and would just plug in their cameras.

Is there any other discs that can fit in my old Sony Mavica? I have a Mavica FD73 and it takes the old skool floppy disks. I don't need high resolution, and have had this camera since new. I like it a lot, except for the fact that floppy disks only hold about 30 pics per disk. Is there any floppy disk adapters that will work in the Mavica to allow me to use a different style media like SmartMedia or CompactFlash? If so, is there a certain limit to the size of SM or CF card I can use with it? This one uses the floppy discs, the later Mavicas used the CD-RWs.

How do I save pictures from my computer to some kind of disk or memory? Okay, I know I can save pictures on a blank cd, but I have 6.4GB (a year and a halfs worth) which would be quite a few cds. (702MB each) I didn't know if there was something else I could get to save them on. There's no floppy drive. On the front of the tower it just says memory stick, smartmedia, compact flash/microdrive, SD/multimediacard. Is that only to put files ON the computer or can I buy a memory stick to save files OFF of the computer? I'm so lost lol. If nothing else I'll just copy everything to bunches of blank cds but I was hoping there was an alternative. Any suggestions?...other than not taking so many pictures.
